I made this little painting after folding the last crane for my massive installation project Paper Mountain. For that project, I folded 1200 birds every day for several months. The painting was a way for me to commemorate the work I had put into Paper Mountain and to say good-bye to that project. Making this painting was a meditative process.
This is an original oil painting, signed on the front and hand labeled on the back by the artist. It is painted on hardwood panel.
The panel is made of basswood and is braced with a basswood cradle. This type of painting support has been valued since the 14th century for its strength and smooth surface.
The sides are painted white and it is 1.5 inch thick. It comes ready to hang with a sawtooth hanger.
