I love my little herb garden. This spring my sage and lemon verbena plants were looking particularly lovely so I decided to take advantage of some beautiful weather and paint them. Because I love how the leaves seem to play together, over the course of a few sunny spring days, I painted them – a chance to play with paint and shapes of color. To contrast with the greens and blues, I transformed the soil into an orange color – because I can do that!

This is an original oil painting, signed on the front and hand labeled on the back by the artist. It is painted on a hardwood panel. The panel is made of basswood and is braced with a basswood cradle. This type of painting support has been valued since the 14th century for its strength and smooth surface.

The sides are painted white and it is 1.5 inch thick. It comes wired and ready to hang.
